Passo dello Stelvio seen from above
At an altitude of 2,758 m above sea level, the Passo dello Stelvio is the highest pass in Italy for cars and the second highest in Europe. Built in the 19th century by Francis II, the last Holy Roman Emperor, the Passo dello Stelvio connects South Tyrol with Lombardy. From here the view sweeps over the pass road with its 48 road bends, the Rhaetian Alps and pristine nature.
